 GOVERNOR ABBA  YUSUF SACKS  KANO STATE HEAD OF SERVICE   The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect. In a statement  by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision is part of the ongoing efforts by the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions. Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of the State  The statement further directed that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in an  acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.  Akwa Ibom Demolitions Leave Over 50 Families Homeless, Victims Seek N600m Compensation


Residents of Ifa Ikot Okpon in Uyo LGA, Akwa Ibom State, were displaced after the state government demolished over 100 houses, affecting 182 people from 52 families. Victims allege they were not compensated or notified before the demolitions, despite earlier promises.


The demolished properties reportedly sit on land marked for a judges' estate, though the community insists the land was never acquired by the government. The village head and affected residents have filed a court case demanding N600m in damages and a declaration that the land belongs to the community.


The case is set for hearing on February 11, 2025. Meanwhile, the victims appeal to the government for intervention and compensation.
