 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. Anambra Assembly Speaker Udeze Felicitates With Chief Anyaoku On His 92nd Birthday

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze has described former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku as a revered diplomat whose service at the Commonwealth fetched Nigeria high regard and recognition among other African countries.


Felicitating Chief Anyaoku on his 92nd birthday, Udeze noted that Chief Anyaoku discharged his duties at the Commonwealth of Nations creditably and was recognized by various organs of the International Community.


The Speaker extolled the advisory roles being played by Chief Anyaoku in Nigeria and Anambra State in particular where he has continued to use his wealth of experience to advance good governance.


He noted that Chief Anyaoku's contributions to the growth and development of the Church of God and his community, Obosi are legendary, adding that even his foreign assignments and engagements could not prevent him from participating in the local Obosi customs and traditions, hence his recognition by the entire Idemili people as "Ugwumba Idemili".


Right Honourable Udeze while praying God to continue to strengthen Chief Anyaoku and give him longevity, enjoined the citizenry to emulate Chief Anyaoku's outstanding personality by striving to make a good name in their various endeavours.
