 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Anyanwu resumes as PDP National Secretary amid crisis


Embattled Samuel Anyanwu has resumed office as National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.


It was gathered that he arrived at the party secretariat around 10:56am and headed straight for his office where he was received by his personal staff.


Speaking to newsmen while sitting at his desk, Anyanwu dismissed a statement credited to the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.


Ologunagba had confirmed to reporters that the party had received the Appeal Court judgment recognizing Sunday Okoye as National Secretary.


In response, Anyanwu said: “That is his opinion. It’s not the opinion of the party.


“As National Publicity Secretary of the party, I wouldn’t want to disparage him. Maybe he didn’t get the facts correctly. I have appealed.”
