 LASG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO END TUBERCULOSIS IN COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS STATE The Lagos State Government on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to completely eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) at the grassroots level across the metropolis.  The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke made this known during a courtesy visit by the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria team to her Ikoyi office, emphasising the present administration's commitment to continually prioritise health security across the state. She said the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, is a Tuberculosis (TB) champion with the mandate of ending TB now and the continuous expansion of TB scale-up diagnostic centres.  According to her, “The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Sanwo-Olu is a TB champion. ATIKU INSISTS: ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO SWITCH PARTIES MUST GIVE UP THEUE SEATS. (PHOTO).

Politician and businessman, Atiku Abubakar has said that party members must not be allowed to ignore party supremacy and rules, adding that elected members who decamp to other political parties must vacate their seats.


He spoke on Monday in Abuja, as a panelist at a national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, organised by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD), the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), the Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA), and the National Peace Committee (NPC).


According to him, there must be consequences for members who fail to comply with party rules.


On coalition he explained that opposition parties must realise that it is extremely difficult to dislodge a governing party, however unpopular it may be and however fed up the people may be with it.


He argued that democracy can not be sustained without strong political parties, especially opposition parties.


He said funding by governors and a few wealthy individuals is not a democratic model.
