 NSC reassigns key personnel to revitalize National Sports Federations In a bid to reposition Nigeria's sports industry for enhanced performance and economic growth, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced the reassignment of Secretary-Generals and officers across various National Sports Federations. This was contained in a statement Issued by the Special Adviser Media to the Director General, National Sports Commission (NSC), Kola Daniel. According to the Director of the Federation of Elite Athletes, Olumide Bamiduro, this strategic move aligns with the vision of NSC leadership under Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade. “The mandate is clear,” Bamiduro stated. “These changes are designed to deliver results, attract private and corporate investments, and drive the growth of our sports economy.”  The NSC has issued a directive to its Federation Establishment and Appointment Department to implement the new postings effectively. BORNO ATTACK: IGP ORDERS CLAMPDOWN ON ATTACKERS OF POLICE STATION, OFFICERS IN BORNO, COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF DECEASED OFFICERS.


As IGP Orders Zonal AIG To Deploy Resources for Swift Action.


In a resolute response to the recent explosion attack at Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters, Borno State, on 9th January, 2025, at about 12.10am, which led to the death of two police officers; Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., has condemned the attack and ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators as no cop-killer will go unpunished.


The IGP expresses deep condolences to the families of the deceased officers, affirming that their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten, as their benefits and entitlements will be immediately paid to their families. 


The IGP has therefore directed the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc., to mobilize adequate resources and personnel, collaborate with other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of this nefarious act are found and caused to face the full wrath of the law.


As investigations continue, the IGP reaffirms the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to holding accountable those who jeopardise and disrupt the security arrangement and safety in Nigeria.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
