 Fire Razes Trucks at Kwara Park A fire outbreak at Alagbede Tipper Garage in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State early Tuesday morning destroyed three trucks out of 42 parked at the site. Reports indicate that the fire began around 1:45 a.m. from a waste collection truck containing refuse, which ignited and spread to two other trucks before firefighters managed to contain it. Confirming the incident, Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, stated, “The fire service received a distress call at 1:35 a.m. and promptly responded. Thanks to the firefighters’ swift intervention, the fire was contained, limiting damage to just three trucks.” Preliminary findings revealed that smoldering charcoal in the refuse truck caused the ignition. Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Monday, a shop at No. 1 Awolowo Road, Tanke, Ilorin, was gutted by fire. Firefighters contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby shops. CAS DEPLOYS FACT-FINDING TEAM TO ZAMFARA

Concerned about the reported incidence of civilian casualties in the recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes in Zamfara State, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has dispatched a fact-finding team to Zamfara to fully investigate the incident and provide a detailed report for further action. The Team, led by Air Vice Marshal Edward K Gabkwet, Director of Coordination and Cooperation (DCC) in the Civil-Military Relations Branch of NAF Headquarters, will liaise and interface with State and Local Government officials as well as all other critical stakeholders, for a holistic assessment of the situation with a view to driving the appropriate response. The CAS wishes to reiterate the NAF'S Commitment to the highest level of professionalism and transparency in the conduct of operations, in line with appropriate global standards. Our absolute value for the life and well-being of every Nigerian remains an integral part of the ethos of the Service, as we sustain the effort to defeat all threats to our nation's peace, security and prosperity. Mindful also of the need to maintain public trust, which is germane to our operational effectiveness, we enjoin all stakeholders to rest assured that the NAF will continue to refine its operational procedures to ensure mission accomplishment, while protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
