 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Chelle delighted with Super Eagles coaching role


Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, says he is ”proud and honoured” to manage the team.


Chelle was unveiled at an elaborate ceremony at the media conference room of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Monday.


The 47-year-old quit his role with Algerian club, MC Oran to accept the offer to manage the Super Eagles.


“I’m so proud and honoured to be the new Super Eagles head coach. Nigeria has a great history with quality players like Ikpeba, Amokachi, Amuneke, Yekini, Oliseh, Eguavoen, Finidi, West, Obi Mikel and Babangida,” Chelle said at his unveiling.


“I was a fan then and with this new generation too, Lookman, Osimhen and others.”


The former Lens defender also highlighted his footballing philosophy, saying, “I love scoring goals. My teams are never lacking in goals, and the Super Eagles will be no exception – we will score goals.”
