 Sao Tome and Principe president dismisses government Sao Tome and Principe's president has dismissed the government over an "inability" to resolve problems facing the African state and "frequent" absences by the prime minister, AFP reported. The decision by President Carlos Vila Nova was announced in a decree dated Monday and published on the presidency's Facebook page. It highlighted a "notable inability" by Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada's government "to provide solutions" to the country in the face of "the scale of existing problems." It also pointed to "frequent and prolonged periods of absence by the prime minister... from the national territory." Seventy-two hours to replace PM Both the president and premier are members of the centre-right Independent Democratic Action (ADI) party, which won parliamentary elections in 2022.  EPL: He had clear chances ~ Maresca speaks on Jackson’s missed opportunities in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Palace.


Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, has admitted that his side had the chance to finish off Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday but for Nicolas Jackson’s missed chances.


Maresca felt the striker was unlucky not to score despite having multiple chances with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.


Jackson had numerous opportunities to extend the Blues’ lead but could not be clinical in front of goal.


Speaking to the press after the game, Maresca stated, via Football London, “For a striker, sometimes they score all their chances, sometimes they don’t score.


“He had two or three clear chances today so that means he is there and ready. Hopefully next time he can be more lucky.”


Jackson has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 20 appearances across competitions this season.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
