 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Fintiri Appoints Emirs for Newly Created Emirates in Adamawa


Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has appointed emirs and chiefs for the seven newly established emirates. According to the governor’s spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou, the appointments were made based on merit and the popularity of the selected individuals.  


The appointments follow the passage of the “Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) and Matters Incidental Thereto” law by the State House of Assembly on December 10, 2024, and its subsequent signing into law by Governor Fintiri on December 16. This legislation empowers the governor to create new emirates and depose incapacitated traditional rulers.  


The newly appointed traditional rulers are:  

- HRH Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu: Emir of Fufore  

- HRH Barrister Alheri B. Nyako: Tol Huba  

- HRH Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga: Mbege Ka Michika  

- HRH Dr. Ali Danburam: Ptil Madagali  

- HRH Aggrey Ali: Kumu of Gombi  

- HRH Ahmadu Saibaru: Emir of Maiha  

- HRH John Dio: Gubo Yungur  


Governor Fintiri congratulated the new leaders and urged them to uphold fairness, honesty, and responsibility in their roles. The appointments take immediate effect.
