‘Friend Of A Thief Is A Thief’, Defence Minister Warns Terrorist Sponsors The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has cautioned Nigerians against aiding terrorists, insurgents, bandits, or other criminal elements, stressing that anyone who supports criminal activities will face the full weight of the law. General Musa made the warning on Saturday while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day 2026 Golf Tournament held at the TYB Golf Resort and Country Club, Yar’Adua Barracks, Abuja. Former US Senator Bob Menendez Sentenced to 11 Years for Bribery

A federal judge has sentenced former US Senator Bob Menendez to 11 years in prison after his conviction on corruption charges, including bribery, extortion, and obstruction of justice.

Menendez, a 71-year-old Democrat from New Jersey, was found guilty of accepting bribes to benefit businessmen with ties to Egypt and Qatar. The case gained national attention after authorities discovered gold bars and nearly $500,000 in cash hidden in his home.

During sentencing, District Judge Sidney Stein criticized Menendez, stating, “Somewhere along the way… you lost your way. Working for the public good became working for your good.”

Menendez, who previously chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has vowed to appeal the ruling, calling his prosecution a "witch hunt." He was convicted alongside two businessmen, while his wife, Nadine Menendez, faces separate charges.

Prosecutors had pushed for a 15-year sentence, citing an "egregious abuse of power," while the defense sought no more than eight years.
