 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  France Hands Over Its Last Military Bases in Chad to National Army


The three French military bases in Chad have been completely handed over to the Chadian National Army, the local media reported.


This handover marks the definitive end of the French military presence on Chadian soil, Sputnik reported.


The Chadian National Army is fully prepared to assume the management of the recovered infrastructure, the Chadian authorities were quoted by the media as stating.


In late December, France has turned over its first military installation as part of its military force pullout from Chad.


Chad's chief of military staff announced that the army would update the public on the status of the French forces' withdrawal from bases in the capital, N'Djamena, and the eastern city of Abeche. He also said that the base in Faya-Largeau in the country's north had been turned over.


In the past several months, French forces began to withdraw or completely left Chad, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
