The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Wenchi West District, Bono Region, celebrated 20 young girls aged 13 to 16 for maintaining their virginity during a special Thanksgiving service. Organized by the Young Adventist Women Ministries, the event aimed to uphold moral integrity rooted in Christian and cultural values.
Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, Coordinator of the Young Adventist Women Ministries, highlighted the initiativeās focus on fostering self-confidence and wise decision-making among young women. She urged the girls to remain cautious in their friendships and continue preserving their purity, emphasizing their unique beauty as Godās creation.
Associate Pastor Andrews Dua Bour Kyereh commended the honorees for their discipline and encouraged them to prioritize education and faith. He also called on parents to actively guide their children toward virtuous living and strong moral values.
The event included undisclosed financial support for the girls and served as a reminder of traditional practices like Bragoro and Dipo rites, which were historically significant in preserving virginity and curbing teenage pregnancies.
