 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has felicitated the billionaire industrialist and Chairman of the Eleganza Group, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, on his 85th birthday celebration. 


He said the renowned business magnate and philanthropist, who will be 85 tomorrow, Sunday, is worth celebrating for his life of consistent commitment and contribution to the economy and livelihood of many Nigerians, particularly in Lagos State, where many of his companies are located. 


 

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said Chief Okoya, the Aare of Lagos, has contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s economy, provided jobs for many Nigerians through his investments and has spread to other African market.


 

He said: “On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I join family, friends and business associates to celebrate the Chairman of the Eleganza Group and the RAO Property Investment Company, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, on his 85th birthday celebration. He is one of Nigeria’s business magnates and philanthropists that are impacting lives positively. 


 

“The Aare of Lagos is a generous man who has given hope through philanthropic gestures to the less privileged in the society. He has given scholarships to many people, particularly the young people, to further their education and also provided funds to many people to start small businesses.


"I wish Chief Okoya the best on his 85th birthday. I pray that God will grant him a longer life, strength, and sound health to continue to continuously enjoy the dividends of his long years of investment.”
