 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates.  SANWO-OLU REAPPOINTS SHITTU AS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF LASUBEB


In a demonstration of his continued commitment to excellence in education, Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu has reappointed Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu as the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB)  to sustain the ongoing reforms in Lagos State’s Basic Education Sector.


Dr. Shittu, a visionary leader, has been instrumental in driving transformative policies and initiatives that have elevated the standard of Basic Education across Lagos State. 


Under his stewardship, LASUBEB has achieved significant milestones, including improved infrastructure, teachers' training, and innovative learning programmes designed to enhance the teaching and learning outcomes of every child in the State-owned primary schools.


Speaking on his reappointment, Dr. Shittu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue to serve the state. He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising initiatives that align with the State Government’s objectives of providing accessible and quality education for all.


“I am deeply honoured by this reappointment and remain dedicated to advancing Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a robust and inclusive education system in Lagos State.
