 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  SANWO-OLU REAPPOINTS SHITTU AS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF LASUBEB


In a demonstration of his continued commitment to excellence in education, Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu has reappointed Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu as the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB)  to sustain the ongoing reforms in Lagos State’s Basic Education Sector.


Dr. Shittu, a visionary leader, has been instrumental in driving transformative policies and initiatives that have elevated the standard of Basic Education across Lagos State. 


Under his stewardship, LASUBEB has achieved significant milestones, including improved infrastructure, teachers' training, and innovative learning programmes designed to enhance the teaching and learning outcomes of every child in the State-owned primary schools.


Speaking on his reappointment, Dr. Shittu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue to serve the state. He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising initiatives that align with the State Government’s objectives of providing accessible and quality education for all.


“I am deeply honoured by this reappointment and remain dedicated to advancing Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a robust and inclusive education system in Lagos State. "Together with my team, we will work tirelessly to create opportunities that will positively shape the future of our children,” said Dr. Shittu.
