 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  Governor Uba Sani Resolves NUT Endwell Scheme Dispute, Approves N548M Payment


Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has directed the release of N548 million to settle the long-standing dispute between the State Government and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) over the Endwell Scheme.


The dispute had resulted in prolonged litigation, affecting thousands of teachers across the state. 


Acknowledging the challenges faced by the teachers, Governor Uba Sani took decisive action to prioritize their welfare and ensure justice through this significant resolution.


According to the state government, the  agreement, signed today, January 30, 2025, marks a pivotal step in improving teachers’ welfare and strengthening the partnership between the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) and NUT. 


"This decision underscores the Governor’s commitment to education, good governance, and the well-being of teachers."


"Governor Uba Sani’s administration has consistently prioritized education and human capital development."


"Since taking office, he has made strides in improving access to education, increasing school enrollment, and retaining students in basic schools. His administration has also focused on building new schools, providing learning materials, and offering teacher training programs to enhance educational standards."


"With this resolution, teachers will now receive the benefits they rightfully deserve, and under the capable leadership of Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Government continues to lead the way in quality education, teachers’ welfare, and effective governance."
