  Abakaliki, Ebonyi State - In a shocking move, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the arrest of six commissioners and the suspension of the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Nwachi, over alleged involvement in a breach of contract for the construction of 140 housing units for Izzo and Amaze communities. The affected commissioners, who were declared wanted by the state government before their arrest, are: - Professor Omari Omaka (Tertiary Education) - Victor Chukwu (Environment) - Ifeanyi Ogbuewu (Culture and Tourism) - Uchenna Igwe (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters) - Moses Ekuma (Health) - Felix Igboke (Project Monitoring) According to the Chairman of the State Executive Council Committee on Izzo and Amaze Housing Project, Ilang Donatus, the governor took the action due to the slow pace of work on the project, which was intended to be completed in time for his two-year anniversary in office.  Immigration Arrests 90 Foreigners for Cybercrimes in Rivers


The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, has apprehended 90 suspected illegal immigrants involved in cybercrimes targeting Nigerians.


Working alongside other security agencies, the NIS arrested the suspects at their hideout in Rivers State.


State Comptroller YI Abdulmajeed revealed that 94 individuals were detained during the operation. Profiling identified 85 Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians among them, with 74 males and 20 females.


Abdulmajeed stated that all 90 foreigners entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes and lacked valid residence permits or travel documents.


Additionally, two Nigerians who provided accommodation to the suspects were also arrested.


The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed the repatriation of the foreigners to their respective countries.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
