BRAKE FAILURE CITED AS CAUSE OF ACCIDENT INVOLVING SECURITY OFFICERS IN ABIA- FRSC. (PHOTO).

  The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia State Command, Ngozi Ezeoma, has confirmed the death of one security personnel in a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on 30th March, 2025, involving a vehicle from the joint task force of Operation Crush, at Isieke along the Umuahia-Bende road. According to Ezeoma in a statement, the accident was caused by brake failure. The vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ditch, leaving eight officers with varying degrees of injury. The injured officers were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia by the Police before the arrival of the FRSC. Unfortunately, the deceased officer was taken to the mortuary. The wreckage of the patrol van has since been recovered from the ditch.

JAMB Announces 2025 UTME Registration and Examination Dates


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the schedule for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). According to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the sale of UTME forms will commence on January 31, 2025, and end on March 5, 2025.


Direct entry candidates can purchase application documents and e-PINs from March 10, 2025, to April 7, 2025. The Mock-UTME is scheduled for April 5, 2025, while the main UTME examination will take place from April 25, 2025, to May 5, 2025.


Candidates who opt for the mock exam will pay ā‚¦8,200, while those who choose not to take the mock exam will pay ā‚¦7,200. The breakdown of the fees includes:


- UTME/DE JAMB application fee: ā‚¦3,500

- Reading Text: ā‚¦1,000

- CBT Centre Registration Service Charge: ā‚¦700

- CBT Centre UTME Service Charge: ā‚¦1,500

- CBT Mock Service Charge: ā‚¦1,500

- Bank Charges: ā‚¦500

- CBT Mock-UTME Centre Charge: ā‚¦1,500


In addition, JAMB has introduced a mock UTME for candidates under the age of 16. This initiative aims to allow underage candidates to test their abilities ahead of the exam, but it is not for admission purposes.


To qualify for admission into any tertiary institution, candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2025. However, exceptional candidates under 15 years may be considered if they score at least 280 in the UTME and perform exceptionally in their Senior Secondary Certificate and post-UTME examinations.
