 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Lagos Assembly Announces New Leadership Following Obasa's Impeachment


The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed four new principal officers after the impeachment of former Speaker, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, on Monday.


The newly sworn-in Speaker, Mrs. Mojisola Meranda (APC-Apapa 1), announced the changes during Friday’s plenary session. Obasa was impeached by 32 out of 40 members over allegations of gross misconduct.


Additionally, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Lekan Onafeko, was suspended for alleged financial impropriety, and all standing committees established by the former speaker were dissolved.


Meranda explained that the new appointments reflect the recent shift in the House's leadership.


The new principal officers are:

Majority Leader: Mr. Temitope Adewale (APC-Ifako-Ijaiye 1)

Deputy Majority Leader: Mr. Adedamola Kasunmu (APC-Ikeja 1)

Chief Whip: Mr. Setonjo David (APC-Badagry 2)

Deputy Chief Whip: Mr. Babatunde Saani (APC-Kosofe 2)


The reorganization aims to align the Assembly’s leadership with the recent changes in its structure.
