 PRESS RELEASE KIDNAPPING: POLICE RE-STRATEGIZES TO CURB KIDNAP, 3 KIDNAPPERS NEUTRALIZED, VICTIMS RESCUED IN DANGEROUS OPERATIONS • As Police Recovers Arms, Ammunition. In a bid to solidify internal security and guarantee safety for all Nigerians, the Nigeria Police Force has again re-echoed its readiness to re-strategize operations in curbing kidnapping and similar crimes across the country. As a follow-up to the Force's determination, and in a remarkable display of skill and coordination, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force successfully carried out a hostage rescue operation on the 31st of December, 2024 at Kwande LGA, Benue State, which led to the neutralization of three kidnappers during the operation.  The Police operatives of the Vandiekya Police Divisional Headquarters, Benue State, received a distress call concerning the kidnap of one Tor Gajir by unknown gun men at the Kwande LGA of the state.  Niger State CP Decorates 204 Newly Promoted Police Officers, Urges Commitment


The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has officially decorated 204 newly promoted officers of the Niger State Police Command with their new ranks during a ceremony at the State Police Headquarters in Minna.


Among the promoted officers are one Assistant Commissioner of Police elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police, 10 Superintendents of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to Superintendent of Police, and 181 Assistant Superintendents of Police elevated to Deputy Superintendent of Police.


CP’s Charge to Officers


In his remarks, CP Danmamman reminded the officers that with promotion comes greater responsibility. He urged them to exceed expectations in their duties, emphasizing the importance of enhanced supervision, monitoring subordinates, and upholding the image of the Force.

“This upliftment demands increased responsibility. As you ascend the ranks, contribute your quota to the Force and ensure its betterment,” he stated.

DCP Makuliso B. Umaru – Area Commander, Kagara

CSP Hassan Gimba – Officer-in-Charge, Crack Squad

CSP Mohammed Mamun – Officer-in-Charge, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

SP Dauda Jeremiah – Divisional Crime Officer, Lapai

SP Martins Wergba – Divisional Police Officer, Shiroro

DSP Patrick Agbaji – Mobile Security Services

Gratitude and Commitment


In their response, the promoted officers expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police for recognizing their efforts. They also thanked CP Danmamman for his recommendations, pledging to uphold the values of the Force and work diligently to improve its image.

The ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Niger State Police Command to fostering professionalism and accountability within its ranks.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
