 El-Rufai to remain in custody as court adjourns bail application to April 14 Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of a Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 14th. The bail application of the former governor came up before the court today. April 1. The court adjourned the case after listening to arguments from both the defence and prosecution  El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on the fixed date. The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by DSS officials.

 Niger State CP Decorates 204 Newly Promoted Police Officers, Urges Commitment


The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has officially decorated 204 newly promoted officers of the Niger State Police Command with their new ranks during a ceremony at the State Police Headquarters in Minna.


Among the promoted officers are one Assistant Commissioner of Police elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police, 10 Superintendents of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to Superintendent of Police, and 181 Assistant Superintendents of Police elevated to Deputy Superintendent of Police.


CP’s Charge to Officers


In his remarks, CP Danmamman reminded the officers that with promotion comes greater responsibility. He urged them to exceed expectations in their duties, emphasizing the importance of enhanced supervision, monitoring subordinates, and upholding the image of the Force.

“This upliftment demands increased responsibility. As you ascend the ranks, contribute your quota to the Force and ensure its betterment,” he stated.

DCP Makuliso B. Umaru – Area Commander, Kagara

CSP Hassan Gimba – Officer-in-Charge, Crack Squad

CSP Mohammed Mamun – Officer-in-Charge, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

SP Dauda Jeremiah – Divisional Crime Officer, Lapai

SP Martins Wergba – Divisional Police Officer, Shiroro

DSP Patrick Agbaji – Mobile Security Services

Gratitude and Commitment


In their response, the promoted officers expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police for recognizing their efforts. They also thanked CP Danmamman for his recommendations, pledging to uphold the values of the Force and work diligently to improve its image.

The ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Niger State Police Command to fostering professionalism and accountability within its ranks.
