 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates.  Niger State CP Decorates 204 Newly Promoted Police Officers, Urges Commitment


The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has officially decorated 204 newly promoted officers of the Niger State Police Command with their new ranks during a ceremony at the State Police Headquarters in Minna.


Among the promoted officers are one Assistant Commissioner of Police elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police, 10 Superintendents of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to Superintendent of Police, and 181 Assistant Superintendents of Police elevated to Deputy Superintendent of Police.


CP’s Charge to Officers


In his remarks, CP Danmamman reminded the officers that with promotion comes greater responsibility. He urged them to exceed expectations in their duties, emphasizing the importance of enhanced supervision, monitoring subordinates, and upholding the image of the Force.

“This upliftment demands increased responsibility. As you ascend the ranks, contribute your quota to the Force and ensure its betterment,” he stated.

DCP Makuliso B. Umaru – Area Commander, Kagara

CSP Hassan Gimba – Officer-in-Charge, Crack Squad

CSP Mohammed Mamun – Officer-in-Charge, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

SP Dauda Jeremiah – Divisional Crime Officer, Lapai

SP Martins Wergba – Divisional Police Officer, Shiroro

DSP Patrick Agbaji – Mobile Security Services

Gratitude and Commitment


In their response, the promoted officers expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police for recognizing their efforts. They also thanked CP Danmamman for his recommendations, pledging to uphold the values of the Force and work diligently to improve its image.
