 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  NYSC DG: Corps Members to Receive N77,000 Monthly from February


Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that corps members will begin receiving a revised monthly allowance of N77,000 starting in February 2025.


Speaking on Thursday to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina, Ahmed confirmed that the allowance increase has been factored into the 2025 Federal Government budget and will take effect once the budget is passed.


“January has already ended, but once the budget is approved, corps members will start receiving N77,000 instead of the current N33,000 by next month (February),” he stated.


Ahmed reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, urging them to serve with dedication in appreciation of the gesture.


He also assured corps members that they would not be deployed to areas with security risks, stating: “We will not post corps members to locations facing security threats. Wherever they are deployed, they can be assured that the area is safe and secure for their service.”
