  CDS Declares 2025 as Year to Eliminate Insecurity in Nigeria The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has announced that 2025 will be a pivotal year for the Nigerian military to effectively confront and eliminate banditry, terrorism, and other security challenges across the country. General Musa made this declaration during a visit to troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he acknowledged the military's successes in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and encouraged the troops to intensify their efforts. “This year, 2025, will be the defining year for Nigeria’s security. We must make it the year we put an end to banditry, terrorism, and all forms of insecurity threatening our nation,” General Musa stated. In a significant move to enhance road safety in Onitsha North LGA, The Mayor, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, has ensured quality road repairs for a Traffic-Free Christmas and beyond.

 

Tony Nwora, is actively supervising the ongoing project themed "Operation Zero Potholes" in Onitsha North to enhance road safety and improve the quality of life for residents.


This impactful project aims to repair all problematic potholes across the Council area using high-quality asphalt. The City Mayor is committed to ensuring that residents enjoy a smooth and traffic-free celebration and beyond.


The Mayor's hands-on approach reflects his dedication to overseeing the work and ensuring that the team delivers exceptional results. Residents of Onitsha North can be rest assured that their welfare and the development of the community remain top priorities for him.


The Operation Zero Potholes project, which aligns with the transformative agenda of Mr. Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to transform Anambra State into a livable, clean, enjoyable, and sustainable homeland, did not only aims to enhance road infrastructure but also underscores the Mayor's commitment to the progress and well-being of the citizens.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
