Freddie Jackson, R&B Legend Behind “You Are My Lady” and “Rock Me Tonight,” Dies at 70 R&B has lost one of its most unmistakable voices. Freddie Jackson, the singer whose smooth delivery helped define romantic R&B during the 1980s and gave generations of listeners songs including “You Are My Lady,” “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” has died. He was 70. Jackson’s death was announced Tuesday, October 6, through his verified Instagram account. According to the memorial shared by his family and team, the singer died Monday night, October 5. The announcement did not disclose a cause of death. “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Freddie Jackson,” the statement read, describing the singer as a generous soul who loved his fans, family, friends and music.  PDP Governors’ Forum pays condolence visit to Makinde over brother’s passing


Peoples Democratic Party, Governors Forum, have joined scores of mourners to pay condolences visit on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the demise of his sibling, Engineer Sunday Makinde.


Bauchi State Governor, cum Chairman of the forum, Bala Mohammed and Rivers state’s Governor, Siminalaye Fubara, who doubled as the vice Chairman, brought the condolence message of the forum to Governor Makinde at his Ikolaba residence.


Delivering the message, Governor Mohammed, said despite knowing Governor Makinde to be a strong person, there is need to show solidarity to the bereaved as an African tradition.


According to Governor Mohammed, the deceased, Engineer Sunday Makinde lived a fulfilled life, having contributed positively to the growth and development of Nigeria.


The Bauchi state Governor, prayed God to give Governor Makinde, immediate family of the deceased and people of the state, fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.


Responding, Governor Makinde, admitting that God is unquestionable, said the inevitable occurred to his brother when he was about to settle down and enjoy life.


Governor Makinde, on behalf of Makinde family and people of Oyo State appreciated the PDP Governors Forum for visit.
