Peter Obi to Petition Tinubu Over High POS Charges

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has raised concerns about the severe hardships faced by low-income Nigerians.

Obi criticized the excessive charges imposed by POS operators on individuals trying to access cash, highlighting its impact on the poor.

Speaking during a visit to His Grace Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Obi expressed his dismay, saying:

“The hardship in Nigeria is unbearable. How can the ordinary people survive? A roadside pepper seller has to pay exorbitant charges just to access her own money. What profit is left after such deductions? No country operates like this.”

He further revealed his intention to formally address the issue with President Bola Tinubu, stating:

“I will write officially to the President and highlight these challenges. The POS charges are excessive, and no country should function this way.”
