 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough. Rivers State Governor,  Siminalayi Fubara, said he will not be drunk with power or allow the associated advantages and benefits that come with holding a lofty position in government to change him.


Rather, the Governor assured that he would remain committed to the vows he made to the Rivers people when he gave him their mandate, to completely put things in place that would transform the state into what they dreamt it would become.


Governor Fubara made the remark when some leaders, elders and critical stakeholders of the state paid him a birthday visit to celebrate his 50th birthday at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday morning.


The Governor explained that he had never subscribed to celebrating birthdays, but seeing leaders of the state gather to celebrate him brought tears of joy to his eyes.


Governor Fubara, on behalf of his wife, Lady Valerie and family, expressed gratitude to God for divine grace and thanked all the leaders who made sacrifices to be in attendance so early to wish him well.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
