 ASSAULT ON TODDLER: LASG EVOKES CHILD RIGHTS ACT … Teacher Remanded In Kirikiri The Lagos State Government has evoked the Child Rights Act and the Lagos State Policy on Safeguarding and Child Protection against Mrs. Stella Nwadigbo, a Teacher at Christ Mitots Nursery and Primary School at Agric, Ikorodu, for indecent treatment of a toddler and pupil of the School, Master Abayomi Michael. Mrs. Nwadigbo was seen unlawfully and indecently assaulting the three-year-old pupil in a viral video on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, smacking the child in the face repeatedly for struggling with a lesson. The Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, in its fact-finding mission, visited the School, which was approved in 2010, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, but discovered it was partially self-shut down and pupils asked to stay back at home till Monday, January 13, 2025. RIVERS STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED SENIOR OFFICERS, CHARGES THEM TO LIVE ABOVE BOARD


The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips has today the 9th. January, 2025 at the Police Officers' Mess, Old GRA Port-Harcourt, decorated about One Hundred and Nineteen (119) Senior Police Officers who were recently promoted comprising Forty Superintendents that were promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), Twenty One Deputy superintendents were promoted to Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Fifty-Eight Assistant Superintendents were promoted to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) respectively.


The Commissioner of Police was assisted by Deputy Commissioners of Police in-charge of SCID, Operations and Administration respectively in decorating the promotees.


In his brief remarks, the CP thanked the Almighty God for making this day a reality and said it was a great honor to welcome the guests to the occasion.


In his words, "we are decorating these Officers who are promoted because of their hard work and dedication". He thanked the Police Service Commission for the timely release of these promotions after recommendations by the Inspector-General of Police. His thanks further goes to the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM for giving him the privilege to decorate the promotees.


The CP called on the newly promoted Senior Officers to shun all forms of professional misconduct and bring their vast experiences to bear on their new ranks. They should be ready to contribute positively to advancing the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force as every promotion comes with new and higher responsibilities he noted.


In his vote of thanks, CSP Orok Edet one of the newly promoted Senior Officers who spoke on behalf of other officers, thanked the Almighty God for making their promotions possible. He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph. D, NPM for finding them worthy of the promotion and subsequent recommendations to the PSC. He further thanked the Police Service Commission for the timely release of these promotions and also thanked the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, psc, mnips and his Management team for decorating them. He noted that they will uphold the tenets of the Nigeria Police Force.


The ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life including the Press.
