 Transfer: Portuguese side signs 19-year-old Nigerian-born footballer Yaqub Usman-Malah. Brito Sporting Club of Portugal has signed an official contract with a United Kingdom-based Nigerian youngster, Yaqub Usman-Malah. The official unveiling of the youngster took place on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Yaqub, born in Nigeria in 2006, is a budding Nigerian talent. Before his official contract with Brito Sporting Club of Portugal, he was a student and trainee player at Brooke College Football Academy in the United Kingdom. At Brooke College Football Academy, Yaqub achieved an impressive record, scoring 17 goals in 32 matches with no injuries over 116 training days, amounting to 2,270 minutes of on-field action. Tomasz Wasylik, the lead coach of the Under-17B team that Yaqub played with, clearly testified to his outstanding performance at the academy.  Shina Peller Addresses Rumors About Relationship with TikTok Star Peller


Former federal lawmaker Shina Peller has clarified that he is not related to the popular TikTok star, Peller, despite sharing the same surname.


In an interview, Shina Peller explained that although the Professor Peller family is well-known, the TikTok star is not part of it.


He stated, "I have heard about the TikTok star named Peller, and many people have asked me if he is related to our family. While the Professor Peller family is indeed large, he is not one of us. The name ‘Peller’ was given to our father because of his career as a magician, and it's a name we have continued to use."


Shina Peller further remarked, "Peller, the comedian, is simply capitalizing on the name. It's a successful name, and he’s managed to make it work for himself. However, I can confirm that he is not part of the Peller family."

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
