 Niger State CP Decorates 204 Newly Promoted Police Officers, Urges Commitment The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has officially decorated 204 newly promoted officers of the Niger State Police Command with their new ranks during a ceremony at the State Police Headquarters in Minna. Among the promoted officers are one Assistant Commissioner of Police elevated to Deputy Commissioner of Police, 10 Superintendents of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police promoted to Superintendent of Police, and 181 Assistant Superintendents of Police elevated to Deputy Superintendent of Police.  Sokoto SSG Loses Daughter and Three Grandchildren in Fatal Fire

The Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, tragically lost his daughter and three of his grandchildren in a devastating fire early on Monday morning.


The deceased woman was the wife of Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, the Permanent Secretary of the state’s Ministry of Sports and Youths Development.


The fire, which broke out in the middle of the night, completely consumed the house while the family was asleep, with only the husband surviving. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, as the state fire service worked for hours to control the blaze.


The bodies of the deceased housewife and her three children are scheduled to be buried tonight at midnight at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa, located at the SSG’s family home.


The state’s Deputy Governor, Eng. Idris Mohammed Gobir, members of the state executive council, APC leaders, friends, and well-wishers have been gathering in Sifawa to offer their condolences and participate in the burial rites.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
