 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Suleja Fire: Southern Governors’ Forum Condoles Niger Gov


Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described the tanker fire explosion in Suleja, Niger State, which claimed 77 lives and injured 25 others, as a devastating tragedy.


In a statement, Abiodun expressed condolences to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, his cabinet, and the people of Niger State, urging them to remain resilient despite the tragic loss. He prayed for the victims’ souls to rest in peace and for the speedy recovery of the injured.


Abiodun emphasized the need for stricter traffic rule enforcement to prevent similar avoidable tragedies and warned against scooping fuel from fallen tankers. He also called on federal and state agencies to intensify efforts in managing the aftermath and urged the Federal Government to support Niger State during this challenging time.
