NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. We have been fully participating in all INEC activities without let or hindrance. NDC also fielded candidates, and fully pa...

WARNING TO TRAFFIC OFFENDERS IN ABIA. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE .

 Government Announcement

Warning to Traffic Offenders in Abia

Abia State Harmonised Taskforce is alarmed at the rate of violation of traffic rules in the state by motorists and Keke Operators plying major roads in the state. These motorists ignore traffic rules and intentionally drive against traffic, otherwise known as One-Way Driving.

They also disobey Traffic Wardens/Personnel and ignore traffic lights at different Junctions.

This act of lawlessness is more pronounced in the commercial city of Aba. It was established that some innocent lives were lost, both in Aba town and on the Umuahia Aba Expressway last year as a result of traffic violations that led to head-on collisions, or knockdown of innocent pedestrians, and subsequently resulted in the death of innocent citizens.

The present Abia State government has invested and continues to invest massively to ensure that all Abia roads become motorable for easy movement and that every part of the state, especially Aba and Umuahia look organised and decent for residents and motorists. There is no justifiable reason whatsoever for anyone, no matter how highly placed to drive against traffic in Abia.

These traffic violations do not only endanger the lives of other road users, but cause unnecessary gridlock. They are more common at such places like:

Aba:

Faulks Road by Ariaria and environs

Osisioma Flyover, all the way to the Expressway

Different parts of Aba Owerri road

Ogbor Hill around waterside

Batta Junction

Aba main Park and environs

Azikiwe Road by Asa

Asa Road by Cemetery etc.

Umuahia:

Ubakala Junction by Express

Cooperative

Isi Gate

Umudike Junction etc.

Government wishes to strongly warn, that henceforth, anyone caught driving against traffic in any part of the state, risks being arrested and prosecuted. Such a person will also pay a heavy fine or lose his or her Vehicle or Tricycle to the government.

Securty agents, personnel of the Abia State Harmonised Taskforce and personnel of the Abia State Traffic and Safety Management Agency have all been put on red alert to enforce government's directive on this, to the fullest.

Signed:

Prince Uzor Nwachukwu

For Abia State Harmonised Taskforce
