 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Why I performed at Onikijipa’s daughter’s wedding same day I lost my mother — K1 De Ultimate


Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has explained the reasons for his performance at the wedding ceremony of the daughter of renowned Nigerian Sheikh, Faruq Onikijipa, on the same day he lost his mother. Alhaja Halimot Shadiya Anifowoshe, who die*d at the age of 105 on Saturday.


Shortly after bury*ing his late mother in Ijebu, Ogun State, earlier in the day, the Fuji star made his way to the wedding, which took place at Balmoral, Federal Palace, Victoria Island, Lagos State.


Reflecting on his lo*ss while performing at the wedding ceremony, K1 revealed the profound impact of his mother’s dea*th on him.


However, he emphasised that the special bond he shares with Sheikh Onikijipa made him attend and perform at the wedding against all odds.


According to him, his friendship with Onikijipa dates back in time, stressing that they have been friends since their youth.


He also used the opportunity to invite guests at the event to the Fidau prayers for his mother, scheduled to take place on Friday, 24 January 2025, in Ijebu, Ogun State.
