 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ABIA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN CRIES FOUL OVER CIRCULATING FAKE RESIGNATION LETTER. (PHOTO).

The Executive Chairman of Umunnochi Local Government Area in Abia State, Sunday Afurobi, has debunked rumors of his resignation, calling the circulating letter a "fake material" forged by his detractors.¹


The rumor mill had been churning out claims that Afurobi had quit his job, with a purported resignation letter addressed to Governor Alex Otti making the rounds. However, Afurobi has come out to set the record straight, assuring the people of Umunnochi that he remains in charge of the council.


The forged resignation letter, which bore Afurobi's fake signature, had caused confusion among local government staff and supporters. But Afurobi has urged everyone to remain calm, ignore the fake news, and continue supporting Governor Otti.


Afurobi revealed that his lawyers and security agencies are currently investigating the matter, reviewing the "disturbing situation" to get to the bottom of the fake resignation letter.
