 PRESS RELEASE:  ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR ABDUCTION AND DEFILEMENT OF A 14-YEAR-OLD The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the public of a recent arrest concerning a case of abduction and defilement. On April 2, 2025, at approximately 3:20 am, operatives of the C4I Strike Force, while on a routine patrol along the Casablanca Axis, GRA Phase-2, Port Harcourt, apprehended one Emmanuel Godwin (male, 23 years old) of 25 Chinda Street, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt. The suspect was found in the company of a minor, name withheld (female, 14 years old), of 11 Nwogu Martins Street, Chinda, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to abducting the minor and detaining her in a room where three other individuals also engaged in unlawful acts with her for over a week. ABIA GOV. OTTI VOWS NOT TO NEGOTIATE WITH CRIMINAL POLITICIANS. (PHOTO).

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has taken a firm stance against negotiating with individuals he describes as "criminals" who have destroyed the state in the past. Otti made this declaration during two separate church services at The Master's Vessel Church and Power World Ministry Int'l in Umuahia on Sunday.


According to Otti, these individuals are now resorting to blackmail and spreading falsehoods against his administration after their attempts to negotiate and secure inclusion in governance failed. Otti emphasized that his administration will not engage with these individuals, stating, "We are not doing anything wrong. Ours is a government that has integrity; we will never negotiate with criminals".¹


Otti's administration is focused on restoring the culture of hard work and contentment among the people of Abia. To achieve this, they are creating an enabling environment that allows citizens to pursue decent livelihoods and take pride in their work and businesses.


One notable initiative is the declaration of free and compulsory education at the basic and secondary school levels. This has led to a massive enrollment of pupils and students in public schools, resulting in significant pressure on the state's educational facilities.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
