 LAGOS TO PRIORITISE MERIT-BASED LEADERSHIP, STRATEGIC TEACHER RECRUITMENT TO ELEVATE EDUCATION STANDARDS The Lagos State Government is embarking on a significant transformation of its post-primary and technical education sectors, prioritising meritocracy in leadership appointments and strategically recruiting qualified teachers in core subjects. These sweeping reforms, unveiled by the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Tolani Alli-Balogun, during the Lagos State 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held on Thursday at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, underscored Mr. Governor’s unwavering commitment to educational excellence.  Aiyedatiwa, Adelami Inaugurated as Ondo Governor, Deputy


Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami, have officially been sworn in for a new four-year term in Ondo State.


The Chief Justice of the state, Olusegun Odusola, administered the oath of office to both leaders in a ceremony attended by state residents and dignitaries.


During the swearing-in, Aiyedatiwa and Adelami pledged to uphold the constitution and work for the welfare of the people.


The inauguration signals the beginning of a new administration in Ondo State.


Among those present at the event were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Minister of Youth Development Ayo Olawande.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
