A Cleric, Rev. Fr. Joshua Obiekezie, known as Oberenwa Jesu, from St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, New Haven, Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State dedicated Onitsha Main Market Health Center after the first prayer with the traders of the market for the year 2025 at the market arena.

Fr. Obiekezie while dedicating the health center which is within the premises of the market in the hands of God, prayed that any patient that steps in for treatment would encounter divine healing, prayed for more wisdom and patience on the managements and staffs to carry on their duties diligently.

Earlier in his homily with the theme "My Season Of Divine Elevation" Oberenwa Jesu, urged traders to read and quote Bible verses whenever praying, noting that it is the word of God and it drives devil away. He said, "this jubilee year would be a special year, be ready to fight this year, you must have the power to pray, fast, work, you must have the strength to hustle, there is no crown without cross.

"Trying to be like your boss who has been in that business for 30 years or more under two years you are in apprenticeship is criminality, it doesn't work that way, ignore get rich quick syndrome, it kills, you must suffer to acquire wealth, if you work you eat," he counselled.

He condemned and advised traders never to take God for granted, quoting 2 Samuel chap.6 when King David decided not to take the Ark of Covenant to his house because it killed Uzziah due to irreverence, rather he took it to Obed Edom house where God blessed him within three months because he made sacrifices and praises to God, stressing the need to always praise and have reverence for God.

He also charged those masters who have been known for their apprentices downfall after their stay with them because of the money they settled them with, to retrace, noting that being only the rich man in your family means you are poor since you cannot raise another person to be like you.

The Chairman of the market, Chief Innocent Ezeoha ( Ezennia), in his speech immediately after the prayer said that the enemies of his administration is as a result of his refusal to share the traders money which he channeled to the development of the market and improvement of traders welfare. Like the place which was planned to be a plaza, I insisted on the establishment of this health center there", he said.

He lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the development strides in the state, commending him for the market access road which would soon be done, stressing that Governor Soludo is the best among his predecessors, pointing out that those administrations that manage state fund judiciously are still being commended by the masses till today unlike those who preferred to share the money.

Dr Ebuka Ezika of the Main Market Health Center in his words said, "I lauded the governor for the initiation of such positive healthcare support for the traders, we have been seeing patients, doing laboratories, managing cases, resuscitating people.

"Our challenges is awareness, some traders and customers don't know we are here, more sensitization is needed though we have done an outreach to create awareness, after that we have a better turn up which didn't last but we would keep on sensitizing them.

"We need solar light which is another alternative to electricity, it would serve as a reserve power, we need to boost our operations here, there are some equipments we need, we will also increase the number of lab test we run, our drugs are standards," he assured.

Uche Emefo, Cordinator Onitsha Main Market said that the agenda for the coordinators and the committees for the year 2025 have been for praying for Governor Soludo because according to him, this year must be a best year we have witnessed as long as Governor Soludo is concerned.

"I advised traders to be vigilant, supportive to the governor because he meant well for the traders, we have cordial relationship with the administration of the market."

The Head Teacher UNICEF Experimental School Main Market, Mrs Osaji Edith informed traders that they have opened an admissions for the 2024/2025 session from Primary 1 to 6, advising traders who wants to continue their education to make use of the opportunity as it is free except the First School Leaving Certificate.

According to her, Governor Soludo established the school in all the markets in the state knowing that some of the traders were dropouts due to one reason or the other. It started in 1997 at main market but closed due to lack of teachers but the present administration seeing the need, reopened it with employment of teachers.
