 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  Anyanwu Defies PDP Leadership, Insists He’s Still National Secretary


Embattled PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, has defied the National Working Committee (NWC) by resuming duties at the party’s National Secretariat despite ongoing disputes over his position.


Anyanwu left the role to contest the Imo governorship election, after which the PDP South-East caucus endorsed Sunday Ude-Okoye as his replacement. Following his electoral loss, Anyanwu attempted to reclaim the position, leading to a leadership tussle.


The Appeal Court ruled in favor of Ude-Okoye on December 20, 2024, and the PDP Governors’ Forum, NWC, and National Legal Adviser also backed him. However, Anyanwu has continued to assert his authority, stating he remains in office.


On Thursday, the NWC reaffirmed Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary, citing full compliance with the court ruling and confirming no existing legal challenge against the decision.
