  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician.  CP ORUTUGU TAKES GOVERNOR SOLUDO ON FACILITY ASSESSMENT TOUR OF RAPID RESPONSE SQUAD FORMATION, AWKUZU


_Commences Reorganisation of the Unit to Enhance Accountability and Transparency in Justice Dispensation_


In line with the Command’s commitment to transparency, strengthened security operations, and enhanced collaboration with the Anambra State Government, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, *CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD,* today, 22nd February 2025, conducted a facility assessment tour of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Formation in Awkuzu alongside His Excellency, *Professor Chukwuma Soludo,* the Executive Governor of Anambra State.  


During the visit, *CP Orutugu* briefed the Governor on the operational readiness of the Command, particularly in its efforts to re-arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the heinous murder of *Hon. Justice Azuka,* a member representing Onitsha 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. He further outlined the proactive measures being implemented to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.  


As part of these reforms, the Commissioner of Police has commenced the reorganisation of the RRS unit, including the systematic interviewing of suspects in custody. This initiative aims to ensure proper accountability, uphold transparency, and reinforce the credibility of police investigations, thereby enhancing public trust in the criminal justice process.  


The reorganisation of the Rapid Response Squad is designed to improve the unit’s operational effectiveness in crime prevention and law enforcement. By adopting a more structured and professional approach to handling suspects, the Command is poised to strengthen evidence gathering, facilitate successful prosecutions, and enhance overall security across the state.  


This visit underscores Governor Soludo’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Anambra residents, as well as *CP Orutugu’s* dedication to professional policing, community engagement, and the maintenance of law and order.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
