 Rema Becomes First African Artist on Rolling Stone Cover Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The American publication, renowned for its coverage of music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as the cover star for its April 2025 edition. Mavin Records celebrated the achievement on Instagram, calling him the “Afrobeats Visionary.” Following the announcement, Rema delivered an electrifying performance at the Rolling Stone concert, thrilling audiences with hits like Dumebi, Woman, and Calm Down.  Gunmen kidnap imam, 10 worshippers in Sokoto mosque attack


At least 10 persons and an imam have been kidnapped by gunmen in an attack on a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto state.

The suspected bandits invaded the mosque on Thursday morning as worshippers performed the Subhi prayer.

Residents told Channels Television that the community has been under siege by bandits despite the presence of security operatives.

However, they said troops swiftly repelled the attackers and prevented further damage.

Ahmed Rufai, spokesperson for the Sokoto police command, confirmed the incident. He however said he could not ascertain the number of abductees due to telecommunication challenges in the area.

“Yes, the incident happened, but I can’t confirm the number of victims,” he told TheCable.

“I don’t have any update on the incident as I haven’t been able to reach the officer in charge for an update. There is a network problem in the area.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
