In a move that highlights the importance of forgiveness and second chances, the Imo State House of Assembly has pardoned and recalled four of its suspended members. The recalled members are:
- Henry Agbasonu, representing Ezinihittee Mbaise state constituency
- Chidiebube Ogbunikpa, representing Okigwe
- Dominic Ezerioha, representing Oru-West
- Sam Otuibe, representing Ahiazu Mbaise state constituency
The recall follows a positive review of the report by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, led by Kanayo Onyemaechi. The committee's report revealed that the suspended lawmakers had shown remorse and pleaded for leniency and forgiveness during their appearance before the committee¹ ²[3).
After presenting the report, Speaker Chike Olemgbe put the matter to a vote, which was moved by Chisom Ojukwu and seconded by Clinton Amadi. The lawmakers commended the House leadership and the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for their leniency, and the suspension was lifted following a majority vote in favor of the committee's recommendation.
