It's Not Within My Constitutional Mandate To Interfere With Ogbaru Local Govt. Administration--Anambra Assembly Speaker, Udeze

By Chizoba Okeke

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says his official duties as Speaker are too numerous that he has no time to impinge on the administration of Ogbaru Local Government Area.

In a press statement in Awka endorsed by the Speaker's Special Assistant on New Media, Franklin Osuagwu, Hon.Udeze noted that he has achieved a lot for his Ogbaru people as a Legislator such as various empowerment schemes, employments, attraction of road projects especially the Atani-Ozubulu road as well as rehabilitation of failed portions of Atani road.

The Speaker also cited as one of his personally funded development projects in Ogbaru, the ongoing gigantic Agricultural Processing Plant in Atani, which he said, will serve the entire communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area when completed, in addition to his recent appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to honour him in Ogbaru by being the first governor in Anambra State to construct the Atani-Osomalla-Ogwuikpele road, which the governor gave the assurance to do as some of his development efforts in the area.

He enjoined the people of Ogbaru Council Area and Ndi Anambra to discountenance the unfounded report linking him with the withholding of someone's salary at the Ogbaru Local Government Council, removal of any Mayor including Chief Franklin Nwadialor and general interference with the administration of Ogbaru Council Area, adding that the governance of local governments follows constitutional provisions with authorities vested on local personnel.

Hon. Udeze maintained that in the last one and half years he has functioned as Speaker, he has been actively occupied with the onerous responsibility of ensuring that the State lawmakers continue to make laws that will guarantee peace, unity, security and development of the State, stressing that the recently enacted Anambra State Homeland And Security Law by the lawmakers is as one of the efforts of the State Legislature in supporting Governor Soludo's security drive in the State.

Udeze assured Ndi Anambra that the 8th State Assembly under his watch is committed to moving Anambra State to enviable heights, while appealing to the people of Ogbaru Local Government Area to desist from smearing his cherished image, but rather join hands with him in making Ogbaru great.
