 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU RECONSTITUTES NNPC LIMITED BOARD, APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN, GROUP CEO President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a sweeping reconstitution of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited board, removing the chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure and the group chief executive officer, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari.   President Tinubu removed all other board members appointed with Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023.   The new 11-man board has Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as non-executive chairman.   Adedapo Segun, who replaced Umaru Isa Ajiya as the chief financial officer last November, has been appointed to the new board by President Tinubu.   Six board members, non-executive directors, represent the country's geopolitical zones.  I’ve Resumed as Lagos Assembly Speaker – Obasa Declares


Impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has announced his return as the parliament’s leader.


Obasa made this declaration on Thursday after arriving at the Assembly complex with armed security operatives.


“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” he stated.


Obasa was removed from office on January 13, 2025, by Lagos lawmakers over allegations of misappropriation while he was in the United States.


Following his impeachment, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda was appointed and sworn in as his replacement.


However, upon his return, Obasa challenged his removal, arguing that due process was not followed in his impeachment.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
