BRAKE FAILURE CITED AS CAUSE OF ACCIDENT INVOLVING SECURITY OFFICERS IN ABIA- FRSC. (PHOTO).

  The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Abia State Command, Ngozi Ezeoma, has confirmed the death of one security personnel in a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on 30th March, 2025, involving a vehicle from the joint task force of Operation Crush, at Isieke along the Umuahia-Bende road. According to Ezeoma in a statement, the accident was caused by brake failure. The vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ditch, leaving eight officers with varying degrees of injury. The injured officers were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia by the Police before the arrival of the FRSC. Unfortunately, the deceased officer was taken to the mortuary. The wreckage of the patrol van has since been recovered from the ditch.

 Kano State to Sponsor 1,002 More Students for Overseas Studies


The Kano State Government has announced plans to sponsor 1,002 additional students for overseas studies, following the successful sponsorship of 1,001 students last year. Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo made the announcement during a visit by the European Union Delegation ahead of the 2025 Study in Europe Fair in Kano.


Gwarzo emphasized the governmentā€™s commitment to education, highlighting its largest budget allocation in Nigeria for 2024 and 2025 and a declared state of emergency in the sector to improve learning opportunities.


The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, reaffirmed the EUā€™s support and noted that the Study in Europe Fair will connect Nigerian students with European universities, fostering academic partnerships and student exchanges. The event, featuring 20 European university representatives, aims to strengthen educational collaboration between Kano and Europe.
