 U.S playwright Jeremy O. Harris released in Japan three weeks after alleged drug smuggling arrest   American playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris was released from detention in Japan three weeks after his arrest on suspicion of smuggling the psychedelic drug ecstasy. Harris, 36, best known for his Tony-nominated play Slave Play, was freed from police custody Monday, authorities said, though it remains unclear whether he was released on bail or has left the country. Harris was detained at Naha Airport on Okinawa on November 16 after officials discovered 0.78 grams (0.0275 ounces) of MDMA in a container inside a tote bag he was carrying. He had traveled from London’s Heathrow Airport and transited through Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport before arriving in Naha for sightseeing. The Tomishiro police took Harris into custody and referred the case to prosecutors for further investigation.  NIMC Approves FIC for Participation in ID4D Project


The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has granted approval for FIC Professionals Network Plc to participate in the Identity for Development (ID4D) Ecosystem Enrolment Service.


FIC, a recognized stakeholder in the financial inclusion sector, recently collaborated with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) to introduce the Agency Banking Certification (ABC) program for aspiring financial inclusion professionals. The company met all necessary requirements before being approved for the initiative.


The approval was confirmed in a letter dated January 23, 2025, signed on behalf of the NIMC Director-General/CEO, Engr. (Mrs) Abisoye Coker-Odusote.


The Nigeria Digital Identification for Development (ID4D) project is a transformative initiative aimed at providing a secure and verifiable digital identity for all Nigerians. It seeks to enhance service delivery, improve governance, and create new opportunities in the digital economy.
