 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates.  NNPC Refutes Claims of Importing 200 Million Litres of Petrol


The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has denied reports that it recently imported 200 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).


In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the company clarified that it has not imported any petrol in 2025.


Soneye dismissed the report as either “lazy and unprofessional journalism” or a “deliberate attempt by economic saboteurs to mislead the public.” He emphasized that NNPCL does not control private marketers’ import activities and described attributing all fuel imports to the company as misleading.


While reiterating that NNPCL has not imported petrol this year, the company stated that it retains the right to do so if necessary to ensure energy security.


NNPCL also condemned the spread of misinformation and warned that it would take legal action against those responsible for spreading false reports.
