 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana.  One dead as Ogun Amotekun foils robbery on Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway


Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, have foiled a robbery incident on the Odogbolu corridor of the Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode expressway, Ogun State.

The incident which happened in the early hours of Sunday, had one of the suspects gunned down and another identified as Amechie Okoro, arrested during a gun duel with operatives of the Corps.

signed by the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Alade Adeditgba (retd) and made available to the press in Abeokuta.

According to the statement, the arrested suspect led the operatives of the Corps to their hideouts which led to the arrest of one Micheal Oko, another gang member who had earlier escaped from the crime scene.

The Corps commander added that on interrogation, Okoro confessed to have just been released from Ikoyi prison last week Monday, while Micheal Oko said it was the ring leader called Awuha that initiated him into the group.

Items recovered from them include a sum of N113,050, 1 motorcycle registered as Lagos KTU 668, 12 different types of phones, 2 locally made pistols, 1 silver wrist watch, and one 1 red head phone.

Adeditgba noted that the corpse of the suspect was evacuated and deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue by the police.

He said the two arrested suspects will be transferred to the police for further investigation and likely prosecution.


Deadly showdown: Ogun Police gun down armed robber, gang members flee

The Ogun State Police Command on Sunday in Abeokuta announced that it had neutralised an armed robbery suspect during a gun duel, while other gang members fled with injuries.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated in a press release that officers also recovered a firearm following the confrontation on Saturday.

The incident occurred along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Highway, with the remaining suspects escaping into a nearby bush.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Odogbolu Division received a report that armed robbers had blocked the highway opposite Western University, just before the multiple bridge.

“Upon receiving the information, the DPO mobilised his patrol team, in collaboration with patrol units from the Obalende and Amateko Divisions, who swiftly responded to the situation.

“During the encounter, one of the robbers was neutralised, while others escaped into the bush with bullet wounds.

“A gun was recovered from the scene, and the deceased robber’s body was deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” Odutola said.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered sustained patrols and highway monitoring to ensure the safety of commuters.
