Police Withdraw Security Escorts Assigned to Lagos Speaker, Meranda ā€“ Aide

In an unexpected move, all police escorts assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, as well as those securing the Assembly complex, have been withdrawn with immediate effect, leaving both the Speaker and the legislative premises without security.

Confirming the development, the Speakerā€™s Special Adviser on Information, Mr. Victor Ganzallo, expressed concern over the sudden withdrawal of security personnel.

ā€œAs of now, all security assigned to the Speaker has been withdrawn, leaving her unprotected,ā€ Ganzallo stated.

He warned that the Speaker is now ā€œvulnerable and exposed to potential threats,ā€ calling for urgent action to address the security gap.

The reason behind the withdrawal remains unclear, and there has been no official response from the Lagos State Police Command or the state government regarding the situation.

The development has sparked concerns about the safety of public officials and the security of the Lagos Assembly complex.
