 China Slams US Tariffs as ‘Bullying’, Calls for Consultations China condemned the US's imposition of tariffs, labeling them as economic "bullying" and unilateralism. A Chinese spokesperson criticized the tariffs as self-serving and detrimental to global development, particularly for countries in the Global South.  In response to the new 34% tariff on Chinese goods, China has implemented countermeasures and urged global opposition to protectionism. China called for multilateral discussions to address the issue.

 Pope in hospital, condition remains critical but no new respiratory crisis


Pope Francis is alert and oxygen is still being administered. His blood values are improving thanks to transfusions. There is an initial slight renal insufficiency. He attended Mass today.

The Holy See Press Office provided the following medical update on Pope Francis on Sunday evening:


The condition of the Holy Father remains critical, but since yesterday evening, he has not experienced any further respiratory crises.

He received two units of concentrated red blood cells with beneficial effects, and his hemoglobin levels have risen.  


The thrombocytopenia remains stable; however, some blood tests show early, mild renal insufficiency, which is currently under control.  


High-flow oxygen therapy continues through nasal cannulas.

The Holy Father remains alert and well-oriented.  


The complexity of the clinical situation and the necessary time for the pharmacological treatments to show results require that the prognosis remain guarded.



This morning, in the apartment on the tenth floor, he participated in the Holy Mass, together with those who have been taking care of him during these days of hospitalization.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
