A Saudi firm is set to invest $5 billion in constructing an artificial intelligence (AI) data center in the futuristic city of NEOM, according to state media reports.
The agreement, signed between DataVolt and NEOM, will fund the development of a fully sustainable AI data center with a 1.5-gigawatt capacity, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) stated.
The facility will be built in Oxagon, an industrial hub within NEOM, which is envisioned to become the world’s largest floating industrial complex.
NEOM, a key project under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative, includes The Line, a 170-kilometer mirrored megacity designed to accommodate up to nine million residents by 2045. However, recent estimates suggest 300,000 residents by 2030.
Saudi Arabia’s ambitious NEOM project also includes Sindalah, a luxury Red Sea resort, which became the first operational part of the development in late 2024. The initiative aligns with the kingdom’s post-oil economic diversification strategy.
