 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. UNN TAKES ACTION AGAINST LECTURER ACCUSED OF IMPREGNATING FOUR FEMALE STUDENTS. (PHOTO).


 

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has suspended a lecturer, Mr. Chigozie Jude Odum, from the Department of Archeology and Tourism, over allegations of impregnating four female students within four years of his appointment.


According to a letter dated February 15, 2025, signed by the Deputy Registrar, Achiuwa F.C. (Mrs), on behalf of the Registrar, Odum's suspension was confirmed. The letter instructed him to hand over all university documents in his possession to the Head of the Department.


As part of the suspension, the university management directed Odum to stay away from his duty post. Additionally, the bursar was instructed to place him on half salary pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations.


The university's decision to suspend Odum reflects its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. The investigation into the allegations is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on its findings.
