Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  Neighbours Identified as Prime Suspects in Gruesome Murder of 3 Siblings in Nnewi


The new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Livingstone Urutugu, has revealed that the killers of three siblings found stuffed inside a refrigerator in Nnewi are residents of the same vicinity. Urutugu made this statement during his visit to the bereaved family, where he vowed to unmask the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.


Barely two hours after assuming office, Urutugu headed to Nnewi to emphasize his commitment to reducing crime and criminality to its lowest level. He commended police officers for their efforts in combating crime and assured them of continued support.


Urutugu stressed the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies, vigilante groups, and community stakeholders to enhance crime prevention and intelligence deployment. He urged the public to remain vigilant and law-abiding, pledging that the Police would take a firm stance against all forms of criminality.


The CP concluded with a warning to those involved in crime, saying, "For those who have been misled into crime, this is a warning to retrace your steps. The command will deal squarely with all acts of criminality, regardless of status."
