 FIRST IMPORTED EBOLA CASE: NIGERIA EVACUATES INDEX CASE TO SWITZERLAND AS CONTAINMENT MEASURES CONTINUE The Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola index case has been medically evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland, following approval by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate. The forty-two-year-old patient, whose case marked Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease case, was transferred alongside her spouse, who has remained asymptomatic. In a statement posted on his X handle, Professor Pate said the patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious and able to communicate, with laboratory test results approaching baseline levels. However, the Minister cautioned that the patient’s clinical improvement does not necessarily mean she is no longer infectious, stressing that strict public health protocols remain in place.  2026 WCQ: Super Eagles depart Rwanda for Uyo


Players and coaches of the Super Eagles have departed Kigali, Rwanda back to Nigeria on Saturday morning.

They are expected to arrive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom where they will take on Zimbabwe on Tuesday evening.

Their flight is expected to land around 4pm local time.

The three-time African champions revived their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup with a 2-0 win over the Amavubis on Friday.

Victor Osimhen scored a brace in the first half, to ensure Eric Chelle got off to a winning start as the new head coach.

The result takes the Eagles up to fourth place in Group C of the CAF qualifying series.
